California Department of Food and Agriculture Secretary Karen Ross appointed Judy Zaninovich, a long-time member of the Pierce’s Disease Advisory Task Force, to serve as chairperson.
Zaninovich is a treatment coordinator for the Glassy-winged Sharpshooter Area-wide Management Program and the Kern County Asian Citrus Psyllid/HLB Grower Liaison for the Citrus Pest and Disease Prevention Program.
The Task Force is composed of County Agricultural Commissioners, scientists, agricultural representatives, and other experts. It reviews program progress and develops recommendations for the Secretary as well as provides input to the Pierce’s Disease and Glassy-winged Sharpshooter Board.
“My years of service on the Task Force have deepened my understanding of the issues,” said Zaninovich. “I want to ensure the Board and the Task Force continue to be aware and ready as new threats and diseases arise.”
