At its April meeting, the PD/GWSS Board recommended funding 12 research projects totaling $2.4 million over the next three years. The projects address Pierce's disease, grapevine viruses, and mealybugs. Additionally, nine projects approved earlier by the Board will continue in fiscal year 2020-21.
The Board's Research Screening Committee will be meeting in May to strategize for next year. "Given the increasing importance of grapevine virus diseases, the Board would like to see more virus-related proposals submitted in future years," said Steve McIntyre, chair of the committee.
