The Pierce’s Disease/Glassy-winged Sharpshooter Board approved $3.4 million to fund 15 research and outreach projects related to Pierce’s disease, glassy-winged sharpshooter, and other designated pests and diseases of winegrapes at its April meeting. Click to view the list of projects.
After a rigorous review of 23 proposals submitted for consideration, the Board’s Research Screening Committee recommended the Board fund 15 of the proposals, pending contingent requirements for some projects. The Board’s recommendations were approved by California Department of Food and Agriculture Secretary Karen Ross.
Twelve multi-year research projects approved by the Board in previous funding cycles were approved to continue as planned. The total for the continuing projects is $989,000.
